Rock Church of Newport News

Rev. Bill Haynes was born and raised in Newport News, VA. He is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and International College of Bible Theology. He began pastoring Rock Church of Newport News in June of 2002. He is married to Colleen, originally from Newfoundland, Canada and they have two children, Jonathan and Benjamin.

Church History
Rock Church of Newport News is a spirit-filled non-denominational church that began in 1977 as a new plant of the Rock Church International in Virginia Beach, Virginia, headed by Bishop John Gimenez and Pastor Anne Gimenez. Rock Church of Newport News is under the covering of the Rock Ministerial Family (RMF), a growing body of churches throughout the United States and abroad. Church Ministries

First Principles
Our First Principles class is a twenty-four week foundational class that roots and grounds the believer in basic doctrines of the Bible. It expresses what Rock Church believes in and stands for according to the Scriptures. Anyone seeking to join our fellowship or to hold a ministry in the church is required to complete this class.

Men and Women’s Ministries
Men and Women’s Ministry meetings and activities are held at the church on a regular basis. These include Bible studies, breakfasts, recreational outings and ministry outreaches.

Young Generation Classes
Our Young Generation Classes meet every Wednesday evening. There are separate classes for young men and ladies (ages 15-20) which are designed to build character and maturity into their lives. Scripture admonishes that the elder shall teach the younger in the ways of life. Therefore, we use this mentoring method to disciple strong men and women of God for this generation. In addition to these classes, Young Generation activities are periodically coordinated for fellowship and ministry opportunities.

Children’s Church/Children’s Classes
Every week our children have a great experience in our children’s church and children’s class programs. Besides exciting spirit-filled Bible teaching, the children also get to participate in fun filled activities, crafts, games and learn godly values through our puppet ministry. Children’s Church (grades K4-6th) meets every Sunday morning shortly after worship service. Children’s classes (grades K4-8th) meet every Wednesday shortly after worship service.

Nursery
Nursery is provided for ages newborn to three years old during Sunday morning and Wednesday evening services.

Prayer
Prayer is a vital part of our church. There are regularly scheduled corporate prayer meetings at the following times:

Sunday morning – 9:45am

Friday evening – 6:00pm

Saturday morning – 7:00am

All prayer meetings are held in the sanctuary or the church prayer room.
