PASTOR ANNE GIMENEZ ORDAINED AS BISHOP Thousands Watch History Being Made May 8, 2008 (VA. BEACH, VA) – Thousands looked on Tuesday night as Rock Church International’s Senior Pastor Anne Gimenez was officially ordained Bishop of the Rock Ministerial Fellowship (RMF). Dr. Gimenez had been the acting Bishop of RMF since the death of her husband Bishop John Gimenez in February. Highlights from the historical service included a processional of RMF pastors and the presentation of the candidate, Pastor Anne Gimenez to the congregation. After a period of questions and answers by Reverend’s Bill Smalt and Sonja Davis as to the worthiness of the candidate, the company of attending RMF Pastor’s was asked if they had chosen Pastor Anne as their Bishop. The answer was a resounding ‘We have”. Dr. Gimenez then offered the Covenant of Communion to all of the RMF Pastors in attendance. Four commissions or “charges” were then given to Bishop Gimenez and a gold medallion worn by her late husband Bishop John Gimenez was placed around her neck. Several letters of commendation were read to the congregation by the Rev. Robin Blanchard and then Bishop Anne Gimenez knelt down for prayer and the laying on of hands. Afterwards, to cheers and shouts of praise, Rev. Smalt presented Bishop Anne Gimenez to the congregation and the Rock Ministerial Fellowship as its presiding Bishop. In her acceptance, Pastor Gimenez honored her late husband John Gimenez and promised to carry forward his vision to win souls and build new churches. She announced that a new school will be established called the “John Gimenez Bible School and the formation of a Board to oversee the growth and vision of the school. In addition she spoke of several new scholarships that have been established to help students come from all over the world to attend the school to receive training there. Special music was provided by Praise and Worship leader Ricky Hilton, Minister Tammie Bennett and Joy Windham. There was reception immediately following the service in Bishop Anne Gimenez’s honor. The Rock Ministerial Fellowship came into existence on the early '70s, after John and Anne Gimenez, pastors of the Rock Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia, began to receive calls to plant churches in their surrounding area. As churches sprang up, there was a need for fellowship and mentoring. Monthly meetings were begun for the Rock pastors, and soon grew to include many other pastors wanting covering and fellowship. In the mid '80s, the word "Fellowship" was changed to "Family" to more accurately reflect the strength of the covenant relationship between members. Today, the Rock Ministerial Family is a vibrant family of churches, ministers, and missions reaching out to the nations of the world. The Rock Ministerial Family functions under apostolic authority and is dedicated to upholding and strengthening the hands of those in ministry. Through peer relationships, retreats, and resource materials, we seek to encourage and equip members to fulfill their prophetic destiny and purpose. We believe in apostolic authority, the five-fold ministry, the restoration of the church, the gifts and ministries of the Holy Spirit, and the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. We invite you to prayerfully consider RMF as the place for you. What is Apostolic Authority? The church in the book of Acts was first and foremost and apostolic church. They ministered in apostolic power and authority and turned the world upside-down. God is restoring the apostolic ministry today. Apostles are anointed to release gifts and ministries within the church. They think in terms of expansion and progression. The apostolic mentality is anointed by God to think in terms of "the big picture," and to incorporate all the gifts of God. A church under apostolic authority will come behind in no gift. It will be strong in the prophetic, in teaching, preaching, and evangelism. The Rock Church International of Virginia Beach, Virginia, having recognized the higher calling to Bishop John Gimenez to the apostolic, has released him into his gifting. He is a father in the faith to thousands and has planted and built churches across the United States and around the world. The fruit of his ministry speaks for itself.
